An International Platform for Cuban Artists
Del Caimán was founded by Cubans to share the true beauty of Cuban culture as experienced by Cubans. We empower diverse artists with a platform to the global community, showing what runs through our veins as Cubans and how that comes to life through art.

Changing Narratives
Cuba offers a rich artistic culture that is often polished for the international community. There is an expectation among Cuban artists that they must only present what tourists will buy, hiding their artistic vision in the process. By representing renowned and rising Cuban artists, Del Caimán is changing that narrative. We aim to connect the world with the real, unpolished art that defines Cuba’s very soul, but is rarely seen by the outside world.
Cuban art is a monument to perseverance. Artists use what little they have to create works that embody their everyday experiences and the hardships they must overcome to pursue their passion — whether it’s using petroleum as a paint base, or creating sculptures from reclaimed PVC piping. In Cuba, supplies are limited, yet art and life still thrive. It is our sincerest hope that more people around the world will come to appreciate Cuban art for what it represents; humanity’s indomitable spirit to create, no matter the circumstance.
Del Caimán seeks to give Cuban art the attention it deserves.
- Rafael Migoyo, President of Del Caimán
U.S. Regulations: Importing Cuban art is legal thanks to the Berman Amendment. Enacted in 1988, it amended the Trading with the Enemy Act (TWEA) to exempt “informational materials” from the TWEA sanctions. In Cernuda v. Heavy (1989), a federal court in Miami held that paintings of Cuban origin were informational materials and therefore exempt from the sanctions on Cuba.

What our Patrons have to say
“Del Caimán deals in the greatest living Cuban artists, some with international reputations, others whose work has rarely been exhibited outside of Cuba. The artists represent the true diversity of Cuban culture and the country's unmatched and very much living artistic heritage.

“Even though I was not an art collector, when Rafael told me he was bringing Cuban art to the States, I wanted to be first in line. I picked out a piece; Rafael had it framed with museum quality material and delivered it without any hassle. I'm excited to be a part of a new business that brings local talent from different cultures.”
